Has public power been used lawfully, fairly and accountably?

Every day, in offices across India, someone decides whether a licence will be granted, a pension paid, a contract awarded, a building demolished or a website blocked. Most of these decisions are never questioned. Some are, and a few travel all the way to the Supreme Court.

In 2025 the Supreme Court awarded ₹10 lakh to each of six persons whose homes in Prayagraj had been demolished without due notice. In 2026 it awarded ₹11 lakh to a convict kept in prison for twenty-four days after a High Court had ordered his release on parole.

This book explains the law that governs every such decision, so that you can test it, challenge it, defend it or take it well in the first place.

What you get

India, the UK and the US, side by side

A Summary for the Indian Practitioner
